Private Aviation in Italy: The Airfield Matters More Than the Aircraft
Commercial aviation delivers you to Rome, Milan, Venice or Naples. The Italy people actually come for begins about two hours further on.
Cortina is a mountain pass beyond Venice. Montalcino is two hours from either Florence or Rome. Positano is a coast road that in August moves at walking pace. Elba, Pantelleria and the Maddalena are a ferry timetable. Almost nowhere worth staying in this country is near a major airport — which is why, here more than anywhere in Europe, the decision that shapes your day is not which aircraft you take but which field you land at.
Italy has dozens of them, and knowing which one puts you twenty minutes from the villa instead of two hours is most of the value of flying privately. The rest is what happens on the ground at either end, which is the part we were built to handle.
Two ways we put you in the air
Private jets. Light cabins for a forty-minute domestic sector, midsize for a European leg with the luggage a real trip requires, long-range for transatlantic. We hold no fleet — we select the aircraft against the day and vet the operator before a name reaches you.
Helicopters. The last twenty minutes, and often the best ones: airport to villa, coast to island, yacht to shore, or a scenic routing flown for its own sake over the Amalfi cliffs, the Val d'Orcia at dusk or the Dolomites at first light.

Most journeys we design use both. The jet covers the distance; the helicopter removes the part of the arrival that would otherwise be a car.
Where it changes the day, not the hour
The clearest way to understand private aviation in Italy is to look at the places where the road is the problem.
Venice → Cortina d'Ampezzo around 40 min
Naples → Positano round 12 min
Milan Linate → Lake Como 15–25 min
Genoa → Portofino round 15 min
Florence → Montalcino around 25 min
Rome → Amalfi Coasta around 45 min
None of these saves an hour. Each of them saves an afternoon — and an afternoon is the unit that matters, because it is the difference between arriving in time for dinner and arriving in time for bed.

Each route has its own constraints — slots, curfews, parking, the airfield that is thirty minutes closer than the obvious one. We know them, and they are the reason a route page exists for the ones our clients fly most.
And when it isn't worth it
Milan to Rome by Frecciarossa is just under three hours centre to centre; the aircraft saves perhaps forty minutes door to door. If speed is the only argument on a short domestic hop with excellent rail, take the train and spend the difference on the rest of the week.
The aircraft earns its place when the day has a second and third leg, when the destination has no useful commercial service, when the party and its luggage make the arithmetic work, or when the alternative is losing a day to a road. Not simply because it is faster.
